Slimmer AI is working with two new incredible founders in the legal tech space. This in-stealth-mode venture is for lawyers by lawyers, helping legal professionals do what they enjoy most: winning their cases and bringing their work into the digital 21st century. 

We're looking for an amazing Tech Lead talent to join the founding team of this exciting new venture. You'll be taking the lead of their AI-powered tech and helping to capture the tremendous opportunity in the legal tech space. This new venture is based in TNW City in Amsterdam and backed by Slimmer AI, a B2B venture studio which invests in and co-builds AI-powered businesses with extraordinary founders.

We’ve all seen the movies and TV shows with lawyers surrounded by piles of documents. While we’re all living in a tech-savvy 2022, those images are still a lawyer’s reality—and we are going to change that! 

This new venture is an Amsterdam-based legal tech company focused on changing the lives of lawyers worldwide. The legal service market as well as the legal tech market is huge and growing fast. And it is ripe for transformation—taking advantage of the latest in user centred design, cloud software developments, and machine learning.

In order to build this amazing product, we are searching for an experienced Tech Lead to strengthen our growing team. Come help us build the next Dutch unicorn!

What you'll do as Founding Tech Lead

You will be responsible for building a state of the art legal tech product together with a team of 5+ engineers along with the rest of the founding team. From tech-to-people, from code-to-communications to take this new product to the next level.

This includes:

  • Acting as an Enabler and Multiplayer through coaching and mentorship for the engineering team that you will help hire (team of 5 to start: mix of frontend, backend, and AI/ML) to achieve sprint goals, and deliver on the product roadmap (oiling the engine). 
  • Acting as the Product Owner partner on the technical details and as enabler for the business owners; fostering togetherness and inclusion to build a great product as a team.
  • A drive to create a state-of-the-art software platform for both engineers to work on and customers to use; maintaining product quality.
  • Designing the software architecture with security and availability in mind—all in the cloud, of course. 
  • Acting as a Servant leader with hands-on execution, architecting and building critical parts together with the team.
  • Building something *beautifully simple* today that will *elegantly scale* into a future unicorn.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Critical thinker and recognised for sharing constructive feedback
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in development and a minimum of 1 year of experience leading a team of engineers including developing, coaching, and empowering each team member
  • Technical team hiring capabilities including taking an active role (with support) in sourcing, assessing, and onboarding
  • Able to find the balance between innovation and creativity, while keeping a keen eye on customers’ needs, security, and quality
  • Previous experience in legal tech or the SaaS space is a plus
  • Experience across the following (current) tech stack: SaaS web application, Python/Django, Postgresql, React.js, PyTorch, ML NLP, AWS
